Android

There are two modes of deploying Android roaming clients:

Mode 1 - Deploy in bulk on organization owned devices through MDM

  • Navigate to Roaming Clients > All Roaming Clients > Add New
  • Select 'Mobile and Tablet'
  • Select 'Android' followed by 'Organization-Owned Device'
  • Copy link to the Android app to deploy the app on an organization owned device and click on next
  • Click on 'Generate Secrets' and copy the secret key and Secret ID for configuring the app
  • Refer to Android Sample MDM Deployment for some examples of MDM based Android app deployment

Mode 2 - Install directly from Google Play Store

Direct installation will be cases where an employee has a personal device or any device outside of MDM. For enabling DNS Firewall on such a device, follow the steps below:

  • Navigate to Roaming Clients > All Roaming Clients > Add New
  • Select 'Mobile and Tablet'
  • Select 'Android' followed by 'Individual Device'
  • Provide the email address of the user device that needs to install the application
  • Follow instructions on the mail to Download and install DNS Firewall Android app from the Google Play Store
  • Open the Android app and enter the authentication code provided in the mail
  • Enter the name of the device to uniquely identify and manage it from the web application
  • Accept the VPN confirmation prompt to enable DNS Firewall application on the device

Note: Installing directly from the Play Store works only with the SaaS version of DNS Firewall. For on-premises setup and Android app configuration, please contact DNS Firewall's dedicated support team directly.
